When I was 5 years old, my dad became very ill and was not able to work for a few months. He was a young Ophthalmologist, with a private practice, wife and 4 kids - ages 5 - 13. Naturally he was very concerned about his patients, his practice and his family. When Dr. Hohensee found out that his friend was ill, he immediately rearranged his own patient appointments to be on the opposite days as my dads. He called my dad and let him know that he would be in his office to take good care of his patients until he was well enough to return....assuring him he would still have a full practice to return to! This act of kindness and time is and was unheard of and will always be appreciated and remembered by our family. He was a true friend and peer of Art Schaefer!
